In the role of SEND HI Support (Communication Support Worker) you’ll be working across college and the flexibility to travel to all centres is required.

 

Kirklees College are looking for multiple post holders to join the SEND Department at Kirklees College with other dedicated professionals who will be able to provide exceptional student support. The successful applicants will provide high quality support across the college, working with the SENDCO for HI to ensure appropriate plans and strategies are in place to support students from school transitions, into, through and out of college to a positive destination.

 

The successful candidates will be able to provide interventions identified from available data, oversee the EHCP process including annual reviews, and ensure students feel valued and well supported in appropriate ways for preparation for adulthood.    

 

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with young people with SEND in an educational capacity, have in-depth knowledge of EHCP’s, the SEND Code of Practice and support strategies, whilst also being able to use their own judgement and initiative in complex situations leading to successful outcomes.

 

The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above or equivalent), a minimum Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or already be working towards this, and you may already have a relevant HE Degree in British Sign Language.

Hours, weeks and annual salary ranges:

30 hours, 38 weeks: £20,280.48 to £21,569.15

18 hours, 38 weeks: £12,168.29 to £12,941.49

Please note staff who work less than 52 weeks and start mid academic year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.
