We’re already a successful college, but we’re continually striving to be better and do better - be part of our story!

In the role of Pastoral Mentor you’ll predominantly be based at one of our sites and your focus will be on delivering effective interventions to support the attendance, behaviour and commitment of our students.

Your key responsibilities will be

  • Offering a range of holistic support to ensure a rounded approach to support for students.
  • Liaising closely with relevant staff and external stakeholders in supporting students identified as at risk.
  • Enabling and supporting students to overcome barriers to progress and success.
  • Ensuring students are safeguarded and provided appropriate follow up support

Ideally, you’ll have a qualification relating to student support or youth work (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and demonstrable experience in working with 14-19 year old students with barriers to engaging with education.  It’s important that you’re able to evidence your understanding of the range of problems likely to affect 16-18 year old students and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.

Due to the nature of our work, it’s essential you’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We believe learning is not just for our students: it’s an important part of working here too.  Staff development opportunities include a mentoring scheme, financial contributions for external qualifications and skills development for current and aspiring managers. You’ll also have access to a range of staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, retail and leisure discounts and reduced Metro travel.

We want people who believe in the value of education, and who can contribute to our culture of supporting and challenging one another.

Term time only staff who start mid year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.
