The role of Catering Supervisor, although based at our Waterfront Campus in Huddersfield, can work at any of our 6 sites. Supporting and working with the Catering Team Leader and Head of Department, your focus will be on leading the team (at either Waterfront, or all out centre kitchens) on the day-to-day running to enable them to provide a world class refectory catering service. This includes ensuring a welcoming yet professional approach to providing students and staff with a high standard of quality food which is a varied menu offer, healthy, and meets a wide range of dietary requirements, and is value for money.
Your key responsibilities will be (but not limited) to:
- Supervision of refectory staff teams to provide an efficient, effective and friendly yet professional service, being first point of call for staff on a day-2-day basis.
- Working as part of and inspiring a team
- Ensuring an outstanding level of customer service / experience for all stakeholders.
- Provision of service to cover events, including menus and staffing.
- Adherence to and management of all food safety, allergen and hygiene regulations.
- Effective management and co-ordination of food in the refectory and stores, including menus, preparation, portions and packaging, availability during operational service times.
- Adhere to college financial procedures and associated admin requirements. Work with Team Leader / Head of Department to meet financial targets.
A current Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is essential, as is demonstrable experience of working in a fast paced kitchen & front of house, customer focused catering role. Be able to plan and prioritise multiple tasks, be organised. It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively and engage with young people and staff alike. These skills are integral to this role.

Term time only staff who start mid year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.
