There are currently two roles for Catering Assistant. Both are based at one of the sites in Huddersfield. Supporting and working with the Catering Supervisor, your focus will be on providing a world class and welcoming yet professional approach to providing students and staff with a high standard of quality food which is a varied menu offer, healthy, meets a wide range of dietary requirements, and is value for money.
Your key responsibilities will include working as part of a team; placing orders both directly and through stores, receipt of deliveries including temperature checks; management of stock; prepare, cook, present and serve food and drinks, ensuring that there are sufficient amounts, variety and quality of foods, whilst adhering to menus; keeping the kitchen and refectory in a clean, hygienic and acceptable condition; handling cash & using a till, and adhering to Health & Safety regulations. Excellent customer service skills are integral to the role. It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively and engage with young people and staff alike, converse easily with our students, and be able to clearly demonstrate our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.
A current Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is essential, as is demonstrable experience of working in a kitchen with a customer focused catering role.
Due to the nature of our work, it’s essential you’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. An Enhanced DBS is also required for all employees at college.

Term time only staff who start mid year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.
