We are currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant, at one of our Dewsbury sites. Working as part of a small team, supported by the Catering Team Leader, your focus will be on providing an excellent refectory service with a welcoming yet professional approach to providing students and staff with a high standard of quality food which is healthy, inclusive of a wide range of dietary requirements, and is value for money. Excellent customer service skills are integral to the role. It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively and engage with young people and staff alike, converse easily with our students, and be able to clearly demonstrate our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.
Your key responsibilities will include working as part of a team; placing orders with stores, managing deliveries including lifting and stacking shelves and fridges and temperature checks. You will be responsible for food preparation, cooking, presentation and service of food and drinks. Ensuring compliance with the colleges food safety policy and Health and Safety regulations. Your role will involve keeping the kitchen and refectory in a clean, hygienic and tidy condition. You will handle cash & use a till.
A current Level 1 Food Hygiene certificate is desirable, as is previous experience of working in a kitchen and in a customer focused catering role.
Due to the nature of our work, it’s essential you’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. An Enhanced DBS is also required for all employees at college.

For TTO staff
Term time only staff who start mid year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.
