In the role of College Curator, you’ll predominantly be based at Waterfront Centre and your focus will be on developing, managing and delivering high-quality artistic, cultural and historical exhibitions and displays across all Kirklees College centres. The role supports the College’s educational mission by enhancing learning environments, celebrating student achievement, promoting local culture, and strengthening community engagement through creative programming.
Your key responsibilities will be
- Designing, curating and delivering a programme of exhibitions and displays that showcase student work, local history and themed cultural content.
- Managing and maintaining the College’s collections, including art, archives and artefacts, ensuring appropriate cataloguing, conservation and storage.
- Collaborating with curriculum teams to align exhibitions with teaching, learning and enrichment objectives.
- Engaging students in the curation process through workshops, projects, placements and internships.
- Developing partnerships with local artists, museums, galleries and cultural organisations.
- Organising talks, tours, events and interactive activities to enrich the student experience and strengthen community links.
- Overseeing the safe installation and de-installation of exhibitions in line with health and safety requirements.
- Maintaining accurate records, contributing to reports and funding bids, and monitoring agreed budgets for exhibitions and cultural activity.
Ideally, you’ll have degree in Museum Studies, Fine Art, Art History, Cultural Studies, or related field. (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and demonstrable experience in curating exhibitions in an educational, museum, or gallery setting. It’s important that you’re have excellent organisational, communication, and project management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and external partners, and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.

Term time only staff who start mid Academic year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the current academic year.
