We are currently recruiting for a Catering Assistant, at our Waterfront Quarter, Huddersfield site.  Working two early evenings per week. 4.15pm – 7.15pm. Your focus will be on providing an excellent catering service with a welcoming and professional approach to providing students and staff with a high standard of quality food and drink. Excellent customer service skills are integral to the role. It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively and engage with young people, adult learners and staff alike, and be able to clearly demonstrate our college values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.

 

Your key responsibility will be operating our evening catering service in the coffee shop. Working independently, duties and responsibilities will include ensuring displays of food and drink are kept well stocked and presentable, operating the coffee machine, serving light hot and cold snacks, wrapped sandwiches, chilled drinks and confectionery. You will ensure compliance with the colleges food safety policy and Health and Safety regulations. You will handle cash and operate a till. At close of shift, you will cash up and ensure the coffee shop is left clean, stocked and ready to open again for the next mornings service.

 

A current Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate is desirable, as is previous experience of working in a catering environment in a customer focused role.

 

Due to the nature of our work, it’s essential you’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. An Enhanced DBS is also required for all employees at college.

Term time only staff who start mid year will have their initial salary payments calculated based on actual weeks worked and the number of pay dates between the beginning of employment and the end of the academic year.
